Active Older Adults

Our Active Older Adult (AOA) programs include a variety of land classes (in the studios at both campuses) and aqua classes (in the pools at our Augusta Campus). Joint Ventures: This class, designed by the YMCA and the Arthritis Foundation, focus exclusively on range of motion exercises for the total body in the shallow end of the pool. Participation is non-stressful and improves daily mobility and flexibility as it decreases joint stiffness and helps with pain management. These classes are also ideal for members with fibromyalgia, muscular sclerosis, or other neuromuscular complications.


AOA Balance & Core Falling Prevention: Functional fitness balance and core exercises for Active Older Adults.

AOA Flexibility and StrengthSilverSneakersĀ® I (Muscle Strength and Range of Movement): Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakersĀ® Yoga Stretch: Low impact aerobics followed by exercises aimed at improving muscle strength, tone, balance and flexibility.
