CAPITAL Y TRIATHLON 2019

IT'S BACK! Register today!

The Capital Y Tri is back! Starting at 8am Saturday, August 10th at 8am!

It will consist of a 425 yard swim in the competition pool followed by a 11 mile bike ride and finshed with a 5K race. The 5K route is the same used for the Rise N Shine and the Capital Y Tri. You may sign up as a team or on your own.

This is an optional 7 week program (June 25-August 7) specialized to work with participants on Swim Stroke, Swim Training, and Strength Training. Registration for this training program is now open.
Bike Training with Erika Rodrigue Wednesdays 5:00 - 5:45pm
Swim Training with Megan Crowder Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:00pm
Strength Training with Jo Irland Cormier Thursdays 5:30-6:15pm

Members $100
Non-members $200 *includes a single adult membership for the duration of the program.

From the mount line in the Augusta Housing Authority Parking Lot travel north to Union St. Turn left to travel west on Union St. Turn left to travel south on State St./Rt. 201 Travel south on State St./Rt. 201 to Hallowell Enter the Kennebec River Rail Trail as you reach the southern end of downtown Hallowell (rail trail mile marker 2.75) Travel south on the Kennebec River Rail Trail to Farmingdale - Be alert for railroad crossings Turn right and immediately right again to travel north on Main St./Rt. 201 at the Sheldon St. intersection (rail trail mile marker 6.0) Travel north on Main St./Rt. 201 through Hallowell Turn right onto Union St. in Augusta Turn right into the Augusta Housing Authority Parking Lot to the dismount line.

Route used for the Rise N Shine and the Capital Y Tri are the same.
Exit the transition area. Run south on the YMCA rail trail connector. Turn left onto the Kennebec River Rail Trail. Run north through the Maine Housing Authority parking lot to the turnaround. Return to the YMCA via the rail trail and connector. Follow signs and cones leading you around the rear of the YMCA. Follow signs and cones leading you out of the YMCA access road to Capitol Park. Follow signs and cones leading you around trails at the outskirts of (but inside) Capitol Park. Follow signs and cones to return to the YMCA and the finish line.

The swimming portion of the Capital Y Tri will take place in the competition pool at the Augusta facility.

Wave starts- approximate start times subject to change Begins in the deep end of the pool in the water - no diving Two swimmers per lane - no specific lane assignments Warm-up lap is allowed once the entire lane is completely empty Water start "Ready," "Set," and then go on the starter box horn Any stroke is legal, can touch bottom but no forward progress 17 lengths Count their own lengths Exit the shallow end of the pool Exit the outside door at the right at the shallow end of the pool.

Register off line by printing off your registration and wavier form below. Off line registration requires a completed registration form, signed waiver agreement and registration payment. *The waiver is on the back side of the registration form. If you print off the registration form and wavier it will need to be returned to KV YMCA with a check made out to Kennebec Valley YMCA.
