After School Kid Zone Leader

The KV YMCA has an exciting opportunity for a part time, after school childcare leader. Our Kid Zone program runs after school from 3:00pm-5:30pm, Monday-Friday as well as full days during all school vacations, snow days and workshop days. This candidate is responsible for organizing a variety of age appropriate activities, both educational and physical (most of all, FUN!). Please see below for a more detailed description of duties. Position Summary:

The Kids Zone Afterschool Leader will be primarily responsible for the oversight of the Kids Zone after school program. This position also shares opportunity to assist the Program Director with youth program instruction, development and promotion.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the safety of members at all times
  • Follow all KVYMCA standards, procedures and policies
  • Preparing and maintaining Kids Zone classroom schedule, snack menu and sign in-sign out sheets
  • Develop and Maintain Kids Zone classroom and curriculum
  • Coordinate all communications with Kids Zone parents and families
  • Coordinates and conducts all vacation fun days, early release days, workshop days and snow days
  • Schedule Kids Zone Staff Shifts & conduct monthly Kids Zone staff meetings
  • Opportunity to assist Program Director to create and facilitate future youth and family programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Education, Childhood Development, or related field preferred
  • At least 1 year experience leading and facilitating afterschool programming
  • Experience in behavior management and conflict resolution

Lead Childcare Teacher

 

Position Summary : Will be responsible for all aspects of the class room environment including developing a program that accepts and nurtures all children in a calm, loving and committed manner. Will communicate effectively with parents and colleagues; monitoring the safety and cleanliness of the classroom equipment and materials on a daily basis.

Rate of pay: $10.00 per hour. Full time, 40 hours per week with a very generous benefits package!!

Lead Teacher Job Responsibilities : The following primary responsibilities are required of the individual; however additional responsibilities may be added if deemed necessary by the supervisor or CEO.

  • Planning and implementing the daily curriculum centered on developmentally appropriate activities that promote exploration and success for all children based on NAEYC guidelines.
  • Being responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Gearing the program to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents and individual style and pace of learning.
  • Tend to each child’s daily needs. These needs will include, but not limited to; diapering and toileting.
  • Follow the KV YMCA Code of Conduct.
  • Wear appropriate dress in accordance with the KV YMCA Dress Code.
  • Follow appropriate substitute procedures when ill or in the need of time off.
  • Work with the other staff members to establish positive communication, cooperation and respect among one another to form a team.
  • Participate in two YMCA fundraising events per year chosen by Learning Center Director or designee.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Must be 21 years of age and meet one of the following:

  • A Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts (BS/BA) in Early childhood Education OR
  • An associate in Arts/Associate in Science (AA/AS) in Early Childhood Education and three(3) years direct childcare experience OR
  • AA/AS in a related field with eighteen(18) credit hours in Early Childhood Education and three(3) year direct childcare experience OR
  • BA/BS in a related field with eighteen (18) credit hours in Early Childhood Education and three (3) years direct childcare experience OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) as awarded by the CDA National Credentialing Program with five(5) years direct childcare experience OR
  • Seven (7) years experience in Childcare

Lifeguard - Part Time (great for students)

The Kennebec Valley YMCA is currently seeking part time Lifeguards to work at our Augusta Campus. Very flexible position, but daytime, year-round availability is a must! Multiple Positions!

This is a permanent, year-round position- not summer only.

Position Summary:
Provides safe and quality experiences for all, by providing a safe aquatics environment while life guarding. Provides a quality program to all members focused on YMCA core values: honesty, responsibility, and caring, consistent with the YMCA Mission and the YMCA Cause.

Qualifications:
1.Minimum 16 years of age
2.Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
3.Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA Standards
Required Certifications:
1.YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross Certification or the equivalent
2.Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Emergency Oxygen & First Aid
3.First Aid (American Red Cross or EMT)

Preferred Certifications:
1.American Red Cross Waterfront or Water park Life guarding.
2.Water Safety Instructor or Equivalent,
3 Lifeguard Instructors.
$9.00/ hr and up Depending on Experience

Assistant Daycare Teacher

The Kennebec Valley YMCA is currently seeking part-time Assistant Teachers for KV YMCA Learning Center.

This opportunity is a permanent, year-round position.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Teacher is a 28-32 hour-per-week position in the preschool classroom with some opportunities to substitute in other classrooms.This position is responsible for assisting Lead Teacher in all aspects of the classroom, including developing a program that accepts and nurtures all children in a calm, loving and committed manner.The Assistant Teacher must also communicate effectively with parents and colleagues and monitor the safety and cleanliness of the classroom on a daily basis

Essential Functions:

1. Be warm, friendly, and sensitive to the needs of others.

2. Relate well to children.

3. Help to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all children and their families in the program.
