Brandon has been working at YMCA's in Maine since fall of 2012. Brandon's passion is to help others work towards their desired goals and guide them to achieve a healthier lifestyle. He specializes in functional training, circuits, weight training, youth fitness and sport specific training. Brandon's focus is on modifying a variety of exercises to accommodate all levels of fitness for all ages.

When Brandon is not at the YMCA, he enjoys outside activities like hiking, kayaking, biking, skiing, disc golfing, and walking his dog.

Johanna Irland Cormier

Johanna Irland Cormier

Health and Wellness Director, Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach

Johanna has worked for YMCA's for 5 of the 10 years she's been in the fitness industry. She has also worked at a Women's Gym, a couple Crossfit Gyms, and a Physical Therapy Office.

Johanna loves seeing confidence build in her clients as they get stronger, and how that confidence translates into all other aspects of their life.

When she's not working, Johanna loves spending time with her family, snowboarding at the Loaf, watching The Office, and lifting weights.

Johanna's professional certifications include: Crossfit Level 1 Trainer, Precision Nutrition Coach, ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, USA-Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, TRX Suspension Training, Pre & Post Natal.

Kim Gagne

Kim has been a personal trainer at the Kennebec Valley YMCA since 2010. Her goal is to improve the quality of the life of her clients while safely meeting fitness goals

She strives to meet every client at their fitness level, and work with them to improve their overall health. and wellbeing.

Outside the gym Kim is an avid Mountain Biker always looking for ways to challenge her mountain biking skills. She also loves to dance anywhere, and she loves to laugh at simple things. If you happen to see her dancing it would make her day if you joined.

Kims professional certifications specialties Include: W.I.T.S personal training, Foundations in Senior Fitness, LIVESTRONG Cancer Survivor Instructor, Fitness for Chronic Conditions, Trigger Point Release Specialist, ACE Group Exercise Instructor, and SilverSneakers Instructor.

Michael Barden

Michael has been coaching at KVYMCA part-time since January 2020. His goals are to help others reduce health risks associated with chronic diseases and to maintain activities of daily living. Strength and conditioning exercise routines are strategies that can help Y members to attain those goals. Outside coaching at the Y, Michael enjoys being semi-retired and having more time for bicycling, cross country skiing, ice skating, and traveling.

Michael's professional certifications include: ACE Personal Trainer and ACE Senior Fitness Specialist.

Erdem is one of our newest trainers at the Y. He strongly believes that a positive attitude and motivation are the two strongest components of healthy living. It is Erdem`s mission to be guidance for others to reach their desired fitness goals.

Outside of the gym, Erdem loves being outdoors, cooking, and trying new meditation methods.

Shayna was born and raised on Cape Cod, MA, she made the move to Maine well over a decade ago. Shayna had struggled with her weight and health at points during her life, but through dedicated fitness and a healthy diet was able to take control of her health, she lost over 80 pounds and has kept it off. Shayna's interests and hobbies include hiking with her 2 kids, husband and dog named Beef, crocheting, gardening, cooking, cycling and swimming.

Peter Spiegel is a fitness educator, podcaster, and father with 20+ years experience in coaching and education. He is the founder of multiple startups focusing on health and wellness and works full time as a health consultant for individuals and small businesses.

As a health educator, Peter is focused on getting clients to relearn how to learn as an adult & put new skills into the context of a busy adult life. This metacognitive approach to adult fitness training leads to major changes in health from minor adjustments in lifestyle for his clients.

Trish Hanley-Goodwin is a Health/Fitness Professional with 30 years' experience, including having been a former Senior Manager at the KVYMCA 2000-2010. Her current full time occupation is Operations Manager/Corporate Health Coach for Occupational, Occupational Medical Consulting, LLC, a subsidiary of Wellness Workdays out of Hingham, MA.

Jamye Martin

Jamye Grew up in southern Maine and discovered her passion for wellness through physical fitness while playing high school field hockey and lacrosse. She has been in fitness for 9 years as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. Jamye took her passion for helping people improve their quality of life through exercise to the next level by becoming a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. Through this education and work experience she has gained a better understanding of the importance of incorporating injury prevention into exercise programming for exercise progression.
